There's a SPRING in my step

On my way home from the CBD today, I walked past flagstaff gardens at lunchtime  - it was packed with people sapping up some vitamin D after being holed up all winter.  I mean packed!! This photo does it no justice because there were people everywhere and in this picture they are tiny specks or not even there.  Anyway, trust me - it was chockas!!  Cricket, work lunches, personal training, soccer, kids, grown ups, coppers with sniffer dogs, I didn't see any but I bet there was a bit of pashing going on too!!!!

Work day so no craft but tonight I will finish glittery skirt to send off to VIP customer in Dubai.  Have also registered for my first SWAP - how thrilling!!

She's obviously underage but doesn't seem too disgruntled with the wages and conditions....  Sewing up a storm when I was getting dinner ready.  Maybe the janomes just wanted a bit of love and affection and were calling her name. 

Earlier today, whilst the seamstress was enjoying her arvo nap, I helped our little mermaid / mad scientist make her first robot.

Meanwhile mobblegobble has been enjoying a little bit of progress.  I have another cape to list from vintage fabrics (I think I will call it Butterflys in the flowers),

and have been working on a remnant tulle and recycled netting tutu - almost finished.  A few fridays ago we popped into meet me at mikes and tried to buy a couple of gorgeous felt owl/monster brooches which were on the counter - unfortunately for us - they were not for sale but came with the cds they were sitting on (I wish I could remember the name of the cd and credit the source but too much going on that day).  Instead, the girls picked out a few bits and pieces from my cupboards and we turned them into these:

Last week the girls and I decided to go slower.  Things were getting a little bit out of control again so we have added a new clause in the contract to go take things easy for a while.  DB is Mr Work-a-lot at the moment and I am absolutely loving hanging out with the girls.  With the sun out so much over the past few days we have been outdoors as much as possible (walking, zoo, park, kicking balls, eating lunch, morning tea, the beer garden for Ros' birthday (sadly Dusty had a stack and busted her lip open), riding bikes, etc).  I know we need the rain but I really can't help but enjoy wearing a tee shirt. My photos are too small - take me to jail

Trying to work out why my photos require squinting - technological genius me.  I am doing the wardrobe refashion thing and last weekend I fell off the wagon (for which you are allowed a "get out of jail free" card).  First new clothing item in 2.5 months - you can't tell but it's got shirring on the bottom and black strappy things around the neck.

Have had a lovely weekend full of couch potato-ness and family time.  Desperate tidying and cleaning on sat morning, people over for lunch - DB hit the kitchen for one of his signature risottos.  We had a "discussion" this week about who is the better cook.  He goes EXACTLY by the recipe - I'm more of a what-have-we-got-in-the-fridge girl.  We have agreed to disagree......  Don't get me wrong - I love eating his food!!  But I can do recipies as well.

Watched Forrest Gump for the first time - what a lovely movie - I see what all the fuss was about.  Hanging out with the kids today - riding the trikes, walking, eating.  Have been having crafting break but now almost BUSTING to get back to it.  Will get a list going and share soon.

Mmmm first you grow the lentil, then you eat the lentil

Thanks for the warm welcomes.  Over the last week I have been trying hard to get rid of the backlog of housework & other work.  I folded two overflowing baskets of washing last night (no wonder I was running low on nickers) and did another two loads. I finally got around to making this red lentil soup today.  Leann made it for our lunch a few weeks ago and I have stolen the recipe from her (who stole it from her friend Colleen).  The grown ups thought it was delicious.  I don't know much about lentils but I believe they are my friend.  The not so grown up members of our house apparently disagree.  I wonder if they would change their minds if I showed them some footage of Neil cooking up a storm in the Young Ones???  First you plant the seed, then you grow the seed, etc.....

Speaking of growing, after a LURVERLY night away on Sat with 5 gorgeous ladies I used to work with, I was inspired to get into the garden.  I tickled the long neglected compost and popped a few vege seedlings into the garden.  I had a helper for about the first hour, then I lost her company.  Good effort really.  Will let you know if anything survives.

I love the colours and the effect.  Apparently you can get stuff that makes the paint thicker and gives it the lovely texture.  Yesterday we all did a bit of painting.  Everyone else must have gotten muddled and thought it was time to put on make up.....

Tuesday already.  Gotta go fess up on wardrobe refashion and tell them about my purchase on the weekend.  Enjoy the week.  Hopefully the janomes are still talking to me and I can share the love soon.

Covert Operation

I had spotted the work on a previous trip dropping a cape off to TAK's office building and was close by last thursday.  I snuck in, pulled my phone out and took a couple of quick pictures in the foyer.  I then went to make my escape.  I got to the electronic sensor doors and they wouldn't open.  I tried to push the button to open the manual door and in perfect comic timing, I kept trying the door on the wrong click.  I tried the sensor doors again...nothing. I had a quick look around, totally expecting to be arrested.  Then, to my utter relief, a couple of people walked towards the building and ... Hallelujah...the doors opened. I then walked on as inconspicuously as possible and with all the "i didn't do it" speed my little legs could muster.  Of course if anyone knows who did paint this, please let me know so I can credit where credit is due. :-)

Red Lentil Soup

Red Lentil Soup

1 tblsp olive oil
2 cloves garlic
2 onions chopped
2 celery stalks
1 large carrot
375 grams red lentils- washed
2 lt vegie stock
1 tspn dried thyme
1 tspn ground cumin
S + P
juice 1/2 lemon

Gently saute carrot,onion,celery,garlic + cumin in oil till softish.  Add thyme,
lemon juice, stock, S+P.  MIx well and boil.  Cook approx 1/2 hour then add
lentils.  Cook 30 mins more.
Blend.
Serve with natural yoghurt if desired.

I'm on the BLOG!!!!

My First Blog - how exciting.  I can go on a bit so I will do my darn'dest at keeping it brief.  Firstly a MASSIVE BIG THANKS to Aunty Cookie for her help in getting me up and running. And for letting me cuddle the gorgeous small person with the delicious grin. Thanks (feels slightly like an oscar acceptance speech, not that I have any real idea what that feels like) also to the Mix Tape Zine ladies for their lowdown on things bloggish.   Monumental day for them too with the premiere issue out in the stands!! Congrats Ladies - it looks awesome (Dusty is very proud of her picture - "of me when I was a baby").

Endless Thanks to my Mum and Aunty Chrissie who kept the Mobble Gobble myth alive for so long that we could be introduced, and for loaning me the name. Love the work of DB (CEO of Finance and IT), DB, SB, the inkblots, the birds on my back, the dress up collaborators, Susie E (Printing lady), Mr Pascoe (co IT guy) and all the generous donators of fabrics.  More about them later.

Very well paid models mind you but most of their wages are taken up by rent, housekeeping and full board.
