Aaahhhh, to wake up in your own bed, and knowing if you use the car it will be to the next suburb. 2000 k's in 5 days - the girls were brilliant. Lots of sugar type bribery and a few extra late nights meant there were extra zzz's to be had in the back seat. This is the kid who eats and eats - note that is a life saver in her gob, not some crazy new wave punk pink piercing for 20 month olds!!!
Mrs inkblot and i did an op shop on the way over and found 1 or 2 retro pillowcases but Dusty scored this awesome dress/top and she had to wear it straight away. This is the view from our aprt at victor harbor - gorgeous. Met up with mum, said g'day to a few penguins, caught a horse tram, a bit of walking, scored a few gems at the op shops, generally relaxed & hung out.
Then, onto mildura for my uncle's 60th!! Cousin jenny was generous to look after the three little ones while the rest of us went larging it. My champagne guzzling kept getting interupted by my talking to people (faces new and old) but when I spied mauz carving up the dance floor, it was on.
TT wasn't expecting us to be there - he started crying (don't tell him I told you) when he saw us.
Then tried to go old school (drinking bottles of jimbeam at the sand bar with deano, jt & pick). Fortunately for me, it closed so I squeezed into the cab with Rob & Lucy. It was great to have a family oriented booze-up!! Was pretty good on the waters too so although I wasn't in "peak physical health", I was in functioning order. My nanna's brothers from Sydney were in town so they came over for the mother of afternoon teas with Aunty Gwen (of ENORMOUS hobbytex collection fame), uncle fred & jenny. Jenny also brought show and tell quilt-a-rama - unreal. So inspirational. I think we were freaking my sister out with all that talk of "in the ditch" quilting, St David Stars and flying geese.
Then the drive home to melbourne - another 6 hours and tada - back to the bloke. Who, incidently, was actually not that unhappy about the football the previous night since his poos and wees team made it to the 2nd semi which is waaaay ahead of their long term vision!! Who also, very thoughtfully, had staged a house clean up and cooked a big batch of spag bol ready for dinner the next night. Which rocked because after a 2 hour nap in the arvo, pre-made dinner on monday looked pretty cool. YEYEYEY for Damage!!!! Also had to sneak in a self saucing chocolate pudding - with cream....and ICE CREAM!!
Craft? What craft? I did finish genie outfit. Have a few things in the pipeline - quilted cushion, pirate outfit, dress out of divine pre-pleated poly circa 60s - 70s, finish already cut out thrifted sunshine dress (for which I found a zipper for in vic harbor). Might not get there tonight as I have the Tupperware lady coming over. People are often surpised that I obsess over plastic. Anyhow, these days I can flick thru the brochure and my mind goes like this: Got it, got it, don't want it, got it, got it, got it, don't want it.... until I get to the modular mates. I have some for my cereal but my cupboards are so small I didn't think it would work. We got a few pantry moths last summer so i am cutting them off at the path and Stacey is going to help me. I think it will be a selection of super ovals with black lids. Any one need anything?
