Stuff we did last week.
We did have lovely visitors on Monday - Thunderstorm and his Mum came over, and we went for a quick walk into craftmafia market at the container bar. Bought a couple of badges but we had to bail due to low blood sugar levels....
On tuesday, we had our delicious friend Atticus' 4th Birthday party - we went as an angel and pebbles:
then later that afternoon, we swapped gifts with some of our mates (this year, everyone got the same "cash in later" gift - tickets to Wind in the Willows:
Wednesday we had a creche christmas party after a busy work day, and Thursday was shopping night at Mikes - lovely to have a champagne while browsing. It really is the way to go.
Friday Nanguin came over to hang with the ladies and I hung out with the janomes (more about that later). Friday night, catch up with Eleanor and Lucy at docklands, Mecca Bar for tea - mmmmmm
It was a Ballet day on saturday with the break up studio performance (and accompanying spread) and Coppelia at the sidney myer music bowl for the evening. Both girls came with nanguin, Mrs Inklbot and I. After the first act, we relocated ourselves to the Very Very Very back after sadia proved she is really only almost two. It was fantastic anyway. Costumes were magnificent, dancing just lovely, train easy and weather perfect for a quiet post dinner picnic of chocolate, cherries and champagne. Dusty has been tying ribbons around her ankles to make big girl ballet shoes ever since.
Sunday was No Gary No - first time I have seen Damage in action:
We might have to invest in some ear plugs in a few years....
In amongst all that, i have actually also been doing some sewing - good thing really, knocking off a few christmas orders...photos to come

We are lucky enough to live very close to the CBD - unfortunately this also comes with its hazards - one of them being quite crap TV reception. We bought a set top box when we moved in a few years ago but it has started to get a bit tired and has been turning itself on and off for a while now. It's newest trick is to turn off but the screen then goes blank in either grey, green or purple. Damage and I play the game where you have to say the first thing of that colour that comes into your head. Dusty's response changes depending on the colour - eg when the screen goes purple - "oh, the purple show", a green screen and we will hear "oh, the green show" - classic.
Have finally finished this:
which has been hanging around for a while. Got quite a few orders to fill before christmas so better hop to it. Have got to post about creche chrissy party, mildew birds catch ups, damage the covert spy, diminished crush on the doctor - will get there. one day must also get down the room with a view tour and macdonalds makes you fat. Perhaps a week of amusing anecdotes....

Dusty is happy to pretend she is a doctor, and often does - worryingly she often gets her patients to undress a bit though - not sure how much to read into that....
Anyhow, she had to go to one yesterday. At dinner on tuesday night she put a pea up her nose. I think it came out straight away but you never can tell. She could breath and it didnt seem to bother her but I couldnt sleep so rang nurses on call at about midnight. They said to go to emergency straight away. I just couldnt face 5 hours of waiting so we went to local doctor yesterday instead. I rang Dusty at creche to tell her I was coming to pick her up later. She listened on the phone for a few seconds, when I started to talk "doctor", she gave the phone back saying - "I don't want to talk on the phone anymore". Not keen. They must have weilded some magic during the day because by the time I got to creche, she was fine. She was very brave and very co-operative. (Not sure how much impact the bribe of icypole on the way home might have had....)
In a tent zone apparently - picked up this stretch at sth melbourne snotlight opening. Nanguin and great nanna have been here so awesome to hang out with them.
When Nanguin is here, all sorts of fun things happen - it's like having a creche right here in the kitchen:
Also took myself off to the docs last week. I think lack of sleep is the main problem. On the way home again as I was trying to ring a client, I ran into michelle and mima from creche. I popped the phone back into my bag, they were wagging work buying wine for the christmas party and eating donuts, I blabbed on to them about how fanciable the doctor is (mostly because he doesn't just shell out pharmaceuticals, he gets that I would prefer the natural options) and we crapped on for a couple of minutes. We parted, I got out my phone again to try to call the client again and wouldn't you know it, I hadn't hung up in the first place. I'd left a very long message and now he knows that my daughters are in creche with donut eating booze hounds and I fancy (just the tiniest bit in a grade 6 kindof way) my doctor. Slightly embarrassing....
Anyway - the realisation that more sleep is required had led to a revolution in our house. I got a bit lost nutritionally too so healthy is back. San Choy Bou with long lost buddy Alex this week. Made such an impression that the next day Dusty said to me "Can Big Alex come back tonight?" Had a very busy day on Friday - early swim, quick dash into town for storage boxes, the kids museum late morning with MG and gunned through about 5 hours of chores in the city after that. A quick wine down the road along with a celebratory burger and fries shared with my fantastic assistants. Phew. Damage had a gig for a christmas party and I think he was surprised it all went well. Raaawk on!!
Yesterday Damage took girls off to Nicole's 10th birthday and I did some work and churned through more chores. I sorted out the sewing room which could be described as nothing other than a sty. I think its been a case of not wanting to go into the room when its a bombsite. Felt better immediately so now part way through a couple of custom orders -capes which have taken me a while to get off the ground, and have finished off a couple of pirate outfits. Even had sneaky mountain goat india pale ale (dish-delish on summer eve) and takeaway thai dinner for one (rest & headspace - incredible - totally new person). Lazy beer with neighbors when Damage got home. We had the guitar trio and dancing in the streets - gotta love summer.
Cousins in town staying at innkblots so we took them back to SE suburbs where they decided to come back our way and take girls to park so I could squeeze in more janome time. Thanks tickles!! Haven't quite finished this one but will be soon. Mrs Birdcage - what do you think? (If you are thinking like me, you will be saying to yourself "keep sipping that DC, get your A off the computer and get the damn thing done before the ladies awake").

Our Woolamai connection put us up for a day at the country races Saturday week ago - lovely. Not too hot so awesome day out. There is something sooo deliciously relaxed and festive about the country races. Of course - its also a great time to spot a few untidy hens and bucks which is good for a giggle. Yes there were tiaras and groups of blokes in funnyhats. Not many of them sober mind you. Surprisingly didn't make our millions although C & B kept having a win on number 7...
And gorgeous to see kids all loving a big backyard. Went to grantville market on sunday morning and picked up a few old stories - including Rin Tin Tin - I remember my dad talking about this so had to come home with us. Then catch up with friends of Damage at catani gardens in st kilda. Dusty had a ride on a pony that we were supposed to take around. I'm here to tell you - I failed lead the tiny wee pony around the park school. She wouldnt budge. The lovely young girl had to come and rescue me. I didn't think I was scared but maybe she could sense something in my inner-concious. Anyway we got around the park with only some halting at the sound of a burst balloon.
